Google Apps Vault is currently available for new Google Apps users only. Therefore, if customers are already subscribed to Google Apps and require archiving they will have to wait until Google Vault is released for current Google Apps subscribers, but they can still buy Postini Archiving (aka Google Message Discovery). This will allow for a smooth transition onto Google Vault once it is available for all current subscribers.
Google is transitioning Postini services to Google Apps in 2013. Over the past year, Google has built the Postini email security and archiving features into Google Apps for Business and Google Apps Vault. With this transition to Google Apps, customers will receive similar email security, protection, and archiving, but through the more robust Google Apps service. Google Apps also works with mail servers such as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, so customers don’t have to switch to Gmail.
If you purchased Postini this year, or are already with Postini, then at your next renewal date on 2013, Google will ask you to switch your current Postini server over to Google Apps Vault. The transition from Postini to Google Apps Vault is designed to be smooth, secure, and prevent any service gaps. In the meantime, you don't need to make any changes to your Postini service or sign up for a Google Apps account. Your Postini service will continue as usual until your migration begins. You will be contacted at least 60 days before your renewal date.
